There are four Witches:
Who was the Witch of the North? There are a couple of contenders. I tend to think it was
SueTyszkiewicz. She called herself the Good Witch of the North, and I like the symmetry of a Chicago lesbian counterpart to Marlon Spells. The PCs discounted this somewhat, probably because Sue didn't seem to be that powerful. But then Marlon and Momma Beulay were both more powerful and important than they appeared. The PCs tended to think the
NakedGoddess, rather than Sue, was the Witch of the North, which is a possibility, but as an ascended
Avatar, the NG is not really on the same scale as the other witches, nor was she really an active player in the US occult scene. (Although I guess
TheMan was a semi-active player, and he's an ascended Avatar.) The original
RoughGuide mentioned "the best and fattest psychic" in the USA living in Minnesota. She was part of a story idea that never got used, but was my original idea for Witch of the North before Sue came along.
As far as who is "wicked" and who is "good," remember Marlon's advice to Reese: "The only way you can tell the wicked witches from the good ones is by their fashion sense." To me, it's not clear that any of them were really wicked. Or even good (except maybe Momma). Dorothy / the Witch of the West strikes me as more a tragic figure than a villain. At least, right up to the devouring her children part.
If we'd ever gone to Boston, maybe there could have been a Wicked Good Witch of the East. Or even Wicked Pissah Good. [Rob]
