General goal of the front page reorg: I wanted to keep the big stuff up front, but let the smaller fry (like, say, JoeyDell) drift back a little. If a person was listed as part of a group, I cut them from the front page. Also, unexpected connections buried deep in the wiki touch my sense of play, although that may be inappropriate here. [Bryant]

It makes sense to me - there are probably even more people and things that could be pruned from the front page. When I piled everything on the front page I didn't realize all the other ways you could find various pages. And yes, I like the serendipity of finding things in a deep and twisty thicket of wiki pages too. [Rob]

I think the front page is still too congested. But then I'm a big fan of labyrinths and mazes. [Jere]

Oh, I'm not done yet, you Borges fan, you. (Loved the quotes on HistoricalShift, btw. I gotta say, I find this sort of quiet collaboration exceedingly enjoyable.) [Bryant]

8/15/03 I love the road map background! You rock. Now to be really nitpicky I think the layout would look better with like one line of white space between the top of each page's body text and the black border of the box (compare this page without it to WhereWeGoFromHere where I added a blank line). But it's not a big deal. I love the map. Is it Kansas? [Rob]

Space added. I need to muck with formatting on a couple subsidiary pages but it's functional now. The map is in fact Kansas; the original is here: http://www.cftech.com/BrainBank/GEOGRAPHY/Kansas.html. Getting I-70 to wrap around properly was a bear. [Bryant]

Years Later: Hey, did the function that creates a diagram of the pages linked to an entry get removed? (Page Map, and Page Map Verbose, I think it was?) [Rob]

Yeah -- it was chewing up literally a third of my bandwidth. :( I may turn it back on after the dust settles on the new server, if it looks like I have room.

Wow, you noticed my question fast. No problem. Don't go putting it back and eating bandwidth on my account. It was a fun toy, but considering the game is done, hardly important. [Rob]
