FrankBaum's Tin Woodsman was once a mortal man by the name of Nick Chopper. He was forced to chop off parts of himself by the WickedWitchOfTheWest through the use of strange magic. Fortunately for Nick, he was friends with a metal-smith, who crafted him a new body of tin as a replacement. In Baum's first "Oz" book, the Tin Woodsman joins Dorothy in hopes of getting a new heart.

MickeyBlackNys is probably the Tin Woodsman. The horrors of working for the VegasMob have robbed him of his heart and replaced his human flesh with cold, unfeeling metal. By the time he met ReeseBeulay he was emotionally bankrupt--a mere automaton who could hack away at anything with unflinching apathy. On the open road he discovered that his heart was not missing, but merely forgotten. Momma Beulay taught him this.

Now he must find a concordant peace between his current emotions and his past crimes. The weight of compassion, the crushing burden of guilt, has been difficult for him to bear.
