A century ago, a war was fought for the
occult kingship of
America -- not between North and South but between East and West. The assassination of
AbrahamLincoln was only the first shot fired in a Secret Civil War that raged under the skin of American history for decades, claiming the lives of at least three presidents and who knows how many ordinary men. Yet all that made it into the history books was a rather obscure debate about American currency: whether the value of the dollar should be based on a gold standard, a silver standard, or freed from both
gold and
silver altogether.
Of course the currency battle was only the surface eruption of an occult struggle between the followers of
the Sun and
the Moon, the harvesters of Solar-Ka and Lunar-Ka. In the East were the
Goldbugs, the great gold-worshipping plutomancers of Wall Street and
Chicago. Jay Gould and J.P. Morgan and
MarkHanna. In the West were the
Silverites, miners and ranchers like
GeorgeHearst, who discovered the Mother Lode of silver in
Nevada and tapped its ancient power. Caught between them were a tiny handful of hardy Populists [
Populism] and Greenbackers, who only wanted to help the lot of the common man.
The War between
the Sun and
the Moon was inconclusive. Both the Goldbugs and Silverites reached too far, too fast, for power, and both were irrevocably corrupted. The Goldbugs built the great industrial trusts, the Leviathans and Octopuses, little guessing that the monsters they built to serve them would turn on their masters, and enslave the nation, parasitic entities feasting on its
Ka. These are
the Nephilim, the hive entities that Aleister Crowley called the Egregor.
It's not known whether they always existed, outside reality, waiting only to be given "corporate" form by the robber barons and
plutomancers, or whether those "incorporations" are what actually created them.
Meanwhile, the Silverites dug too far and too deep, unlocking the blasphemous magicks of the Black Moon. There they found
the Selenim, the
Lemurians, and fell in thrall to their ancient evil.
Today the Goldbugs cling to power in the Shining City of
Chicago. Behind the walls of their corporate boardrooms and penthouse suites, they grovel before the corporate entities they foolishly believed they could control. Their old enemies, the Silverites, are based in
LosAngeles. Something wicked has made its home there. The souls and sanity of the once fearsome Silverites have long since burned away, their order has splintered into so many debased and degenerate cults. And between Chicago and
LosAngeles runs the broken ley line of
Route 66, America's shattered spine.
