In FrankBaum's The Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow wants a mind, yet he masterminds most of the schemes to get Dorothy to the Wiz, from whom he gets a diploma.

Among our PCs, BenSiegel is associated with the Scarecrow. Ben's search for secrets parallels the Scarecrow's quest for knowledge, as does his growth from being considered the most naive and sheltered of the group ("CollegeBoy") to perhaps the most connected and significant ("the King"). DanSiegel (the original Dan Siegel, murdered by LegalTenderCoxey) was nicknamed "Scarecrow" Siegel by his travelling companions, and when Ben rejected the overtures of his grandfather he told him his "real" name was now Scarecrow.

In the Oz Tarot (in our game, at least), the Scarecrow appears on TheHangedMan.

That picture is from one of the creepy silent film versions of Oz. It might be Stan Laurel, of Laurel & Hardy fame.
