Orichalka is a mysterious extraterrestrial mineral. Literally "the destroyer of Ka," it counters the magical fields of Earth, in particular the solar-ka and lunar-ka of gold and silver. Thus it may be useful as a weapon against the parasitic ka-harvesting entities that the Goldbugs and Silverites have let into the world.

Orichalka is sometimes known as TheHammer. The great meteor that sank Lemuria and killed the evil saurians was of orichalka; a lesser meteor that hit Kansas in 1938 and drove magic from that land was orichalka too; the mighty hammers with which JohnHenry slew one of TheNephilim were made of orichalka too.

Because it neutralizes magic, extended proximity to orichalka may help ameliorate the effects of a HistoricalShift.

HomerBeulay dropped John Henry's orichalka hammer down the Fraterville mine when his sons were just boys. Waylan, Reese and the gang went into the mine, slew the NomeKing, and recovered it. The hammer has become the engine block to Waylon's SS LS6.

Given Orichalka's links to comets I'd be surprised if the BielaComet didn't come up sooner or later. If it doesn't, WaylanBeulay may go looking if we go back to Chicago. [Jere]
