"Los Angeles still has the other end of our ley line, after all, and they stole the Oneiros when they stole Chaplin's studio."
--from the UA rulebook

A major magical artifact, somehow related to dreams and the power of the SilverScreen. It takes the form of a seven-spoked reel of film and an ornate and elderly film projector whose reels loop in on themselves in a convoluted fashion. When played properly, it releases at least enough magical energy to provide a major charge.

The Oneiros seems to date back to 1893 and the ChicagoFair. Thomas Edison and L. Frank Baum were involved in its construction.

In or around 1916, it was stolen from Chicago by CharlieChaplin and GloriaSwanson. They brought it to LosAngeles, and the nascent film industry of America came with it.

In 1967, it was moved to SanFrancisco by MONARCH in order to power a HistoricalShift. Just moving it warped the fabric of America's dreams, triggering San Francisco's Summer of Love. In 1968, the major charge it provided was accidentally stolen by SamLully during a pitched battle between MONARCH and the SilverAgeKnightsOfTheRoad. He used it fairly ineffectually.

The Oneiros appears in the 1980s era EyeBitingMan manuscript Tucker gave Ben, in the hands of a violent militia group with some similarities to our heroes.

The Oneiros appeared again at this year's BurningMan, in the possession of Booth and TheCollective.

The movie on the reel is a very old black and white from the turn of the century. It depicts Dorothy -- the real DorothyGale -- being raped by the Scarecrow, the CowardlyLion, and the TinWoodsman. Yep, TheWizardOfOz characters, all played by members of the LeagueOfGoodRoads. "Dorothy" does not appear to be acting.

But... at Burning Man, the Oneiros projected a completely different movie. This time, it seemed to be a 1930s sci-fi serial featuring the City of Yaktavia and the Dero in their flying saucers.
