"America kills its kings. Kills 'em and eats 'em." -- the ghost of Huey Long
"Gentlemen, we have our marching orders!" --
BenSiegel
GeorgeWashington turned down the throne of
America. Elvis Costello released an album called
King of America, but sometimes a coincidence is just a cigar.
A king can only arise to the throne at a time where there is no rightfully elected president. The prospective king eneds to overthrow the previous king.
Elvis and
Nixon relinquished their claims when Elvis made an Oval Office visit to Nixon.
The current (?) king (and queen) seems to be some hermaphroditic-siamese-twins in a jar that
BugsySiegel stole and hid in
LasVegas. See the
BeastOfGlamis.

- Black's actions in Vegas may have changed this. King killer indeed. [Rob]
Reese's Theory
"You can go two ways with
Kings in this country. There's the good way, that's the way
Elvis and
Huey Long went. That's where you become the King, but then you make sure everyone knows that America is bigger than you. Elvis went into
PresidentNixon's house and said he'd be proud to wear Nixon's badge, and Huey Long said every man was a king. They did right by this country.
"Then there's the bad way. That's where you put yourself above America, where you forget that America isn't about kings."

- It's worth rereading that last sentence in light of recent events. [Rob]
Reese has been wrong before, of course.
