La Llorona is one name for
BloodyMary, but the myth of the Crying Woman goes back much further than that:
In the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, the goddess Cihuacoatl takes the form of a beautiful lady draped in white garments. Throughout the night she cries out in misery, "Oh hijos mios ... ya ha llegado vuestra destrucción. Donde os llevaré?" (Oh my children ... your destruction has arrived. Where can I take you?) Many believe that Cihuacoatl was speaking of the future conquest of Mexico by the Spaniards.
La Malinche was born in 1505. In 1519, she was given to Hernan Cortés as a mistress and translator. In 1521, she had twin boys by the conqueror. In 1522, Cortés left her for a Spanish lady. She ran, taking her children with her, but Cortés' soldiers soon caught up with her at the lake where Mexico City now stands. She stabbed both her children, and let them fall into the lake, crying out, "Oh, hijos mios..."
Her story overlaps with
Coronado not at all.
She is the patron of a new girl gang movement in the West;
AnnabelleCairo has links to this movement.
NumberTwelve is the emblem of the movement.
