General

Jacob Coxey was a populist around the turn of the century, and a member of the LeagueOfGoodRoads. He had a son who he named Legal Tender Coxey. In the campaign, Legal stole Dan Siegel's name (see GoldenAgeKnightsOfTheRoad) and is BenSiegel's grandfather.

He had another son named Jesse. "Hmm. Another possible contender for the inheritance..." [Rob]

Commentary

From the UA list, April 3rd:

"Well, he said silver is bad too. Jerry Smith took to the silver, he said, and it was the wrong way. He said a man named General Jake found the right way between silver and gold. [GoldVsSilver]"

Jerry Smith = Rev. Gerald L.K. Smith [GeraldSmith], a lieutenant of HueyLong's and later a leading American anti-semite with connections to the fascist Silver Shirts and the StGermain worshipping I AM cult [IAm]. I can't tell you who General Jake is because my players haven't tracked him down yet.

From Jere, also April 3rd:

I figured it [General Jake] was a reference to Coxey's Army.

This later proved to be accurate.

From Chris Tatro:

"When they busted all the unions,
You can't make no living wage.
And this working poor arrangement,

And take his message to the street."
