The Cross of Gold is both a famous WilliamJenningsBryan speech (read it here) and a mythical object of worship. Coronado was told of the latter by TheTurk, and searched for it in Kansas, near the center of America [AmericaHasACenter]. When he couldn't find it, he and his men crucified the Turk upon a cross of gold they erected themselves.
