"As worthless as Confederate money" has been a popular cliche since the South lost the Civil War. Perhaps LegalTenderCoxey and his ilk can't use Confederate money in the way they can use American currency.

Confederate money was theoretically backed by cotton, but in practice was backed by nothing at all.
