A Ken Kesey-like character, the consensus leader of the SilverAgeKnightsOfTheRoad. Severely messed up by his father, BillBryanIII. Not known to possess any occult powers, but very knowledgable about the occult underground.

His straight name was WilliamJenningsBryanIV.

His current whereabouts are unknown, although he could be the RadioGuyinMexico. But see below.

When I said Captain Trips looked more like a mechanic than a hippy, there was speculation that he could actually be HomerBeulay. This seems highly unlikely, since the Beulays are supposed to have worked the Tennessee hills for generations, but the age is actually about right, and given the HistoricalShift, who can say? :) If it were actually true, this would mean that Reese and Waylon are great-great-grandsons of WilliamJenningsBryan. "Captain Trips" was the nickname of Jerry Garcia, lead singer of the Grateful Dead. Alfred M. Hubbard, the so-called "Johnny Appleseed of LSD" is sometimes called "the original Captain Trips." And "Captain Trips" is also a slang term for the super-flu that decimates the world in Steven King's The Stand.
