More of a clique or a social club than a society, consisting of some dozen active "members." A hodgepodge of academics, explorers and thrill-seekers. They have no real formal structure, instead meeting whenever it is convenient to boast about their exploits and argue over their findings. It is this lack of organization that resulted in the "admission" of Rosamund Vaine, the
Lady Corbridge, who simply showed up at one of the meetings and refused to leave despite the protest of her peers. She has never missed a gathering, except for when she is abroad. From these missions she always returns with stories that outdo even the most seasoning adventurer, and treasures to wet the lips of the group’s antiquarians.
By and large the Society has given up trying to rein her in, except for now, when the wrath of the
Lord Chancellor has sparked them into action. To this end, they have asked the
Lord Caraway, who is loosely affiliated with the group, to track down the
Lady Corbridge, owing to the former's background in dealing with wayward and otherwise difficult aristocrats -- most notably Sir
Parloe Daubney.
