A Dementlieuse-speaking man who possessed a disturbing affinity for shadows--he wore a cloak of incarnate darkness, which no weapon could apparently harm; he danced between the lightless corners of the alleyway in which he fought; he could summon forth a talon'd shade with glowing eyes the color of merlot.

Rapiers appeared to be his weapon of choice, since he fought with two of them. One of these was "confiscated" by the Inspector and given to Amelia Wellstone once he had been defeated. For himself, the Inspector confiscated the abovementioned shadow cloak.

He was beheaded by the Duchess Wargrave following their initial engagement.
